Hector Bove Memorial Scholarship Award

AY 2024-25 Scholarship is now open. The application window closes March 28th, 2025. The Academic Year 2024-25 winner will be announced at Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil event at the Doseum, April 26, 2025.

The Hector Bove Memorial Scholarship Award is a $2500.00 college scholarship award in loving memory of our friend, supporter, and volunteer of Fiesta Youth and awarded to a college, university, graduate school bound student (age 17 -25).

Hector was a huge advocate in our community with a spirit like no other with a great sense of humor, smile and laugh like no other, and a heart of love for his family and friends. This award will help carry his spirit forward for many years to come.

Thank you to all his family and friends that have made a contribution to this fund to continue to honor his memory and work he dedicated himself to in our community.

Hector Bove Memorial Scholarship Application

To be eligible:

  • 17-25 years old

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher/not on academic probation

  • Currently reside in Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Wilson, Atascosa, Kendall, Bandera, Medina, Duval, Nueces, Kleberg, Kenedy, San Patricio, Jim Wells, and Brooks counties.

IF YOU MEET THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION PROCESS BELOW. RECIPIENTS OF THE $2500.00* SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE ANNOUNCED APRIL 26th at Midnight in the garden of good & evil.

The application is a Google Form and includes the following essay type questions:

What have you learned from your experiences with Fiesta Youth and how will you use this knowledge as you build your future?

What would you like to see for the future of the LGBTQ+ community?

What are your future goals and your plans for higher education?

What is your personal biography? Tell us about who you are as a person.  For example, your coming out experience, extra-curricular activities, family life, future goals in life, how you will give back to your community, etc. (no less than 500 words)

Explain the impact that you want to leave on society, the world, and those you meet? (no less than 500 words)

How would you help a friend in need? (no less than 400 words)

How do you feel that diversity contributes to the fabric of America? (no less than 400 words)
